Tree surgery operations offered by Discover Trees include:
  • Crown Reduction - The entire crown of the tree is reduced in size.
  • Crown Thinning - The removal of a proportion of secondary branches to produce a less crowded branch structure, without altering the overall size or shape of the tree.
  • Crown Lifting - Referring to the lower branches of the crown. These are removed to a specified height above ground level.
  • Pruning of Specific areas - Where specific branches need pruning. For example; a branch in contact with a building.
  • Deadwood Removal - The removal of major deadwood from trees. This is usually to remove the hazard.
  • Formative Pruning - Where a young tree is pruned to in order to develop a clear stem and a well-spaced canopy of branches.
  • Pollarding - Is a way of maintaining a tree to preserve the specific size and shape. All branches of the tree are removed back to main stems at a certain height. Pollarding is usually repeated annually.
  • Sectional Dismantle - This is where a tree is removed in sections as felling from the ground is not possible.
  • Felling - The removal of a tree by the use of felling cuts at ground level.
